Although this class is not listed as an elective in the Fusion course catalogue, it is possible to take this course with permission from Prof. Noterdaeme and Frank.

The class is very well organized. It is based upon the 'flipped classroom' method. Each week, the professor releases several videos and questions. You must answer the questions in a report and submit it online. In this way most of the learning takes place outside of the classroom. As a result, the class only meets once a week for an hour and a half to discuss the reports and videos from the previous week.

Although the class has little application in the field of Fusion, it takes place during the second semester and has considerable overlap with Atomic and Molecular Physics. In this way you will already have an understanding of the material or it could be great help in relearning the material for a retake.

Since you have been learning the material all semester through the reports, the final requires minimal studying. The final questions are very fair and you have access to the internet for help. Additionally, there is a group work section where several students works together to answer questions.
