Applied Electromagnetism

This course is taught by Professor Daniel De Zutter, the current head of the Department of Information technology and former head of the engineering department. Most of the students in this course will be in the second year of their Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering. The course is concerned chiefly with the application of E&M theory to transmission lines and Maxwell's equations in various media.

Each of the lessons given by Professor De Zutter will typically exist out of 45 minutes of actual class and a 30 minute rant about administration or something completely non-class related, which often makes for a amusing lesson.

The course has a large programming component where you are grouped up with another student to simulate a problem. Failure to complete the programming component (ie. not handing in completed work) will result in failing the class, but don't worry if you can't solve an issue in your program you can as Professor De Zutter for help, but this might happen at the expense of some of the points awarded.

The exam consists of a few theory questions which you do not have your notes to solve. You may then use the course notes to complete the second half of the exam which are variations of the exercises given throughout the semester.

The course is fairly well organized, but a large amount depends on the Assistant who teaches the exercises.

PS: Professor De Zutter is nearing his pension, so classes might be taken over by a new professor any time now.
